Ronald Rewald, Victim of CIA, DOJ Corruption At a time when it seemed patriotic to work with the CIA, Ronald Rewald was the titular head of a covert CIA operation based in Honolulu that had offices worldwide, and especially in the Far East. He was considered excellent at making friends with the heads of certain foreign governments. He was also involved in attempting to prevent the transfer of surface-to-air missiles to Middle East terrorists. His life, and that of his wife and daughters, came tumbling down in the mid-1980s after the cover of the CIA operation was blown by a Honolulu television reporter. To divert attention from it being a CIA operation, a hoard of DOJ prosecutors, CIA officials, and a cooperating federal judge, covered up for the operation. To carry out this scam, Rewald was falsely charged with operating a company that defrauded investors, and then denied Rewald witnesses that would have testified about the CIA operation, denied Rewald the right to have famed lawyer Melvin Belli represent him, and then assigned a just-graduated law student to present the defense. Then, during the trial, the federal judge charged the young lawyer with criminal contempt of court for raising a normal defense.
