America's Unrecognized Heroes & Martyrs
America has a host of real heroes―or are they martyrs?, not the ball players that Americans adore, but those former federal agents who suffer greatly for attempting to report corruption, some of it deadly, that they had discovered during their official and professional duties.
The various books listed at this site describe the plight of those former insiders, former federal agents, who put the lives of the American public ahead of their own, and who then paid the awesome consequences.
The awesome consequences were paid by them for several reasons, including, for instance:
- The endemic corruption and cover-ups in government offices.
- The corrupt culture of those people in control of the Department of Justice.
- The culture of cover-ups by members of Congress.
- The culture of cover-ups by media people when the corruption is far more serious than the plain vanilla type.
- The history of pathetic indifference and cowardice of most Americans.
- The overall ramifications on the level of integrity in the people who control the various positions throughout government, and how this affects the people.
America's Unrecognized Martyrs
Many of the people who have provided information about the tragedy-related corruption in these pages and in the related books had suffered greatly, both personally and financially. When everyone else did nothing, they, in a David vs. Goliath-like fashion, acted to protect the lives of others and protect national interests. They met the definition of martyrs, and remain unrecognized in the United States where the masses consider ball players as their heroes. How pathetic, their conduct and values!
In 2006 and 2007, there was considerable media attention focused on the political manipulation of the U.S. attorneys by the Bush administration. But that attention focused only on the peripheral problems in the Department of Justice. The people in control of the Department of Justice have for years misused their awesome power to destroy people, to put people in prison, on fabricated charges, for various reasons. These reasons include, for instance:
Silencing former government agents to prevent the public from learning about the corruption that these agents were trying to expose, or could have exposed. This was especially prevalent during the 1980s to silence CIA assets involved in flying arms to the Contras and fly drugs back into the United States.
Improving the record of U.S. attorneys with the maximum number of convictions.
Justify the retention of the thousands of government informants and government agents, by filing often-sham charges against innocent people.
Sampling of Former Federal Agents who
Suffered Retaliation for Protecting the PublicJohn Carman
- John Carman, former agent of U.S. Customs and Secret Service agent. He is now incarcerated at the MCC at San Diego, after seeking to expose corruption of officials in U.S. Customs and other government offices. To get an idea of why Department of Justice officials wanted to silence him, go to his web site (before it is taken down) at www.customscorruption.com.
- Putting him in prison, standard DOJ practice, kept the public from discovering the
corruption. (But his earlier attempts to make the public aware of the corruption encountered the standard do-nothing by the American public.) The latest on John Carman: (MS Word) (Adobe PDF)
- Letters/faxes sent to members of the House Judiciary Committee pointing out the relationship between the obstruction of justice firing of eight U.S. attorneys by the Bush White House and the retaliatory prosecution of former U.S. Customs agent John Carman. (MS Word) (Adobe PDF)
- Affidavit by another former agent of U.S. Customs, Darlene Fitzgerald, September 18, 2001, confirming the corrupt actions by upper management allowing major drug shipments to cross into the United States. Also, a letter written by her on June 15, 2007. Also, her May 10, 1999, letter to the Office of Independent Counsel, reporting the corruption in U.S. Customs that subverts border security efforts. See her web site at www.bordergate.net. Seeking to silence Carman, the U.S. attorney argued that he should not be released on bail pending trial, which hindered his defense, and when his lawyer appealed the refusal to grant bail, three judges in the U.S. Court of appeals also denied him bail. Anyone except the most dangerous of criminals are granted bail before and during trial. Highlights on the corruption of federal judges in helping to silence former federal agents can be found by clicking on the following: Judicial corruption Federal judges Directly Implicated .
- Ironically, while members of Congress allegedly anguishes themselves with what to do about security along the Mexican border, members of Congress and Department of Justice personnel cover up for the subversion of border security by people responsible for protecting the borders. Worst, they all cover-up for the retaliation against those true American heroes attempting to protect national interests. (But then, this has been a national trait for years in all segments of government!) More information here.
- In October 2007, a brain-dead group of jurors in San Diego, believing everything that the U.S. attorney told them, convicted John Carman. He became the latest victim of the corruption in government and the apathetic American public.
- Letter (October 9, 2007) written by Attorney Austin Price to House Judiciary Committee detailing: (MS Word) (Adobe PDF)
- The corruption in U.S. Customs allowing suspected huge drug shipments from Mexico to enter the United States.
- The retaliation by Customs management against government agents seeking to protect national interests by halting such drug shipment.
- The sham prosecution by federal prosecutors to imprison and silence former Customs agent John Carman.
- The usual inaction by Congress to this knowledge.
Richard Taus
- Richard Taus, former FBI Special Agent, Lt. Col. in U.S. Army, and highly decorated helicopter pilot in Vietnam.
He is serving a 25-50 year prison sentence at Dannemora, New York on false charges. Why? He circumvented DOJ cover-ups and reported to members of Congress (a) the murderous activities of his supervisory FBI agent Lindley DeVecchio, and (b) the involvement of covert CIA assets in carrying out the secret arming and funding of Iraq during the 1980s for White House politicians. As a result of these activities, the United States is now engaged in a war in Iraq.
- A book has been written, based upon Taus' life, and the murders perpetrated by several FBI agents, with the knowledge of Department of Justice officials in Washington, and the knowledge by members of Congress who covered up. The title to the book, FBI, CIA, the Mob, and Treachery, is available from amazon.com by clicking on FBI, CIA, the Mob, and Treachery.
- Putting whistleblowers in prison on false charges is the standard practice, and this was done to Taus, as well as dozens of others whose plight is revealed in the books written by insiders.
INS Agent Joseph Occhipinti
Discover how Department of Justice prosecutors helped continue drug smuggling in the New York-New Jersey area, and facilitated the funding of the New Jersey terrorists who bombed the World Trade Center in 1993, by filing false charges against INS agent Joseph Occhipinti. Full story in the book, Drugging America, and highlights here.
INS Agent Rumaldo Solis
Discover how Department of Justice prosecutors protected a DEA agent that was a kingpin in drug smuggling along the Mexican border and who killed a Mexican, in Mexico, when the hapless Mexican discovered the DEA agent's identity. The full story in the book, Drugging America, and highlights here.
Ronald Rewald
Titular head of a covert CIA operation based in Honolulu, Ronald Rewald was falsely charged
with criminal activities by DOJ prosecutors conspiring with CIA officials, so as to divert attention from the CIA involvement after the cover was blown on the operation by a Honolulu television reporter. Ten years in prison, failing health, and IRS hounding to this day, was part of the price paid by Rewald and his family for the culture of corruption that controls American today. Details in the books, Disavow: A CIA Saga of Betrayal; Explosive Secrets of Covert CIA Companies; Defrauding America; and Drugging America. Highlights here.
Stephen Swanson
Stephen M. Swanson, retired DEA agent. After he retired, while carrying out verbal authority from DEA agents to infiltrate a drug smuggling operation, DOJ prosecutors charged him with being the kingpin in the operation. During trial, and under heavy emotional stress from the false charges and false arguments presented to the jury by the U.S. attorney, Swanson committed suicide in 2000 so that his dying wife would not be denied the medical benefits that were part of the retirement benefits, but would be lost if he was held guilty. Details in the book, Drugging America, with additional details here.
Mary Diefenderfer
Mary Diefenderfer was a federal aviation safety inspector-investigator, the principle operations inspectors for Alaska Airlines. She left her government position after being repeatedly harassed for reporting the defective maintenance practices at Alaska Airlines. Shortly thereafter, an Alaskan DC-9 aircraft plunged into the ocean off Southern California, with the death of all on board. The NTSB found defective maintenance related to lubrication of a jackscrew that controlled the horizontal stabilizer. Numerous other examples of FAA personnel in similar situations is described in the book, Unfriendly Skies: 20th & 21st Centuries.
Darlene Fitzgerald
After years in criminal justice and law enforcement, including U.S. Customs, Darlene Fitzgerald
quite her Customs employment over protests of corruption that allowed suspected shipments of drugs in railway cars and vehicles to pass uninspected. Visit her website at www.bordergate.net for more information.
Rodney Stich
- Rodney Stich is a former federal aviation safety agent who discovered vast amounts of
corruption in government. The corruption he initially discovered was of people in the government's aviation safety offices that enabled to occur many preventable airline disasters, including the hijackings of four airliners on September 11, 28001. Later, as he wrote books and appeared as guest and expert on hundreds of radio and television shows, he learned of corruption in other areas of government from the many government agents and others that came to him.
- To silence him, over 50 lawyers, and over a dozen judges, striped him of his life assets, Judges then then issued unlawful orders barring him for the remained of his life from filing any papers in federal courts (reporting the criminal activities under the federal crime reporting statute, Title 18 U.S.C. Section 4). Then, when he sought to report additional criminal activities (some of which would be heavily involved in the conditions that enabled terrorists to hijack four airliners on 9/11, DOJ prosecutors and federal judges charged him with criminal contempt of court and sentenced him to federal prison. These actions greatly assisted the terrorists to hijack four airliners on 9/11 and kill 3000 people.
- These matters are described in several books, including Blowback, 9/11 and Cover-ups; Unfriendly Skies: 20th & 21st Centuries; and Defrauding America.
These are only a few examples. Many more are described in the books written by former federal agent Rodney Stich. These are only the tip of the iceberg. Media people don't report them, so the only people knowing of the countless human tragedies arising from the arrogance and corruption in the three branches of government are the victims, if they are still alive, and their families and friends. One of the most detailed and documented example of the literal army of lawyers, law firms, judges, and DOJ lawyers attacking for years former federal agent Rodney Stich, solely to prevent the public from learning about the evidence that he had acquired over the years during his David vs. Goliath attempts to protect American interests from the literal Trojan horse corruption that is mutating throughout government and society. Made possible by public indifference. Stich even wrote a book about his plight, David vs. Goliath: 9/11 and Other Tragedies. But who cares about what was done to someone else!
One of the charges for which hundreds of people have been sent to federal prison, and labeled criminals, was based on alleged exaggerated statements made on loan applications, even though the loans may have already been paid off, or being paid on schedule. Think of all the people who have exaggerated something on their loan papers, especially with the subprime loans, who are equally "guilty" and by all accounts, "unindicted criminals."
And some of these victims are "little-old-ladies," nothing is too much for prosecutors who want to progress by putting people in prison. If you don't believe it, ready Defrauding America and Drugging America.
Members of Congress: Years of Obstruction of Justice
Despite the testimony and other information given by these and countless other government agents to members of Congress over the years, the only reaction had been cover-up, which under the criminal statutes constituted obstruction of justice and misprision of felonies. And in practice matters, the cover-ups enabled many national tragedies to occur over and over again, as well as catastrophic harm to national security. Only way this tragedy and corruption will be halted is by a small but persistent group of people showing some sign of outrage, courage, and integrity.
Plight of Whistleblowers Against High-Level Corruption
There should be another name for those foolish people in government who attempt to protect the people and the country who seek to report and expose corruption of those in key government positions who have control of all forms of retaliatory power. What is needed is meaningful legislation that corrupt judges cannot make meaningless.
The judges of the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in a May 30, 2006, decision that government power can be used to retaliate against anyone in government exposing corruption, and that includes corruption subverting the United States. That decision is known as Garcetti v. Ceballos, 128 S.Ct. 1951.
In 2007, the Senate was ready to vote on a whistleblower bill to provide protection to government whistleblowers, but Senator Tom Coburn of Oklahoma raised objections, and the vote was blocked. By a very undemocratic rule, any senator can raise objection to further vote on a bill. (A prior Oklahoma senator, Senator David Boren, chairman of the aviation subcommittee, also blocked actions that would result in many preventable airline tragedies, as detailed in the book, Unfriendly Skies: 20th & 21st Centuries.)
Stich ran into this while he was a federal air safety agent as a vote was about to be taken to investigate the FAA. That one vote kept the lid on the scandal that had already taken many lives, and would take many more in the years ahead.
Upon hearing of Senator Coburn's action, Stich sent a letter to him, with copies to the other members of the Senate judiciary committee, objecting to the hold and giving examples of how urgent the legislation was. (MS Word) (Adobe PDF)
Are Present or Former Government Agents Agent
Fools for Attempting to Protect Americans? The facts show that the answer to that is an obvious "yes!" In instance after instance, and as shown in the books, those government agents knowingly endured great personal and financial harm. For some, their noble efforts resulted in death of life in prison.
They foolishly sought to inform the public of the Trojan horse-type of corruption responsible for many forms of human tragedies, and for subverting the country. They faced, by themselves the wrath of those in control of great government power that would be used against them. Each of them thought that the American public would respond, and that at least one of the many government and non-government checks and balances would protect them.
If nothing else, they are America's unsung and ignored martyrs.
The Pathetic American Public
The great harm inflicted upon these courageous people for attempting to protect the public was compounded by the fact that the public wouldn't lift a finger to help them. Let this be a lesson to the very few who may contemplate doing the same; the people they are trying to protect don't give a damn!
"What, me care?" is the attitude, until they became the victims. No wonder the United States is in such bad shape! Like sheep, the public ignores the hard information from courageous government insiders, preferring the simplistic lies of spin masters like Russ Limbaugh, Bill O'Reilly, President George W. Bush and their shills.
The list of such human tragedies inflicted upon good people by the arrogant and corrupt people in the FBI and Department of Justice is endless.
The books, Unfriendly Skies: 20th & 21st Centuries, Drugging America, and Defrauding America, have countless examples of how dedicated and courageous federal agents seeking to protect national interests have suffered terrible consequences at the hands of corrupt prosecutors in the Department of Justice, and the history of congressional cover-ups of these corrupt activities. And we mustn't overlook the role of the do-nothing American public!
