In the aviation environment, many preventable airline disasters have occurred. In the bankruptcy courts, the corruption has impoverished many people who exercised the statutory protections of Chapter 11. In the drug area, the secret smuggling of drugs by people acting in government positions has resulted in a broad pattern of criminal activities and the consequences. In the Justice Department, many people have been falsely charged with federal crimes, the charges often supported with perjured testimony, and the long imprisonment, sometimes for life, of innocent people. As it relates to the hijackings of four airliners, instead of focusing on the misconduct of those who refused to order the known preventative measures, the focus was on so-called intelligence failures.
